Composition:
Each 100 gm contains:
– Tylvalosin tartrate 100 gm
(Tylvalosin tartrate base 87.41 gm)
Properties:
Tylvalosin tartrate : Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit (Bacteriostatic).
Indications:
For the treatment of:
- CRD
- Mycoplasma
- Clostridia
- ORT
Advantages:
- Better than tylosin in IB infection with mycoplasma as
its side effect on the kidneys is lower than tylosin.
- It has a low MIC (0.015 – 0.03 mg/ml) and accumulates in higher concentrations in target tissues compared to plasma; therefore, its efficacy surpasses other macrolides.
- Accumulates in macrophage and enhances their activity, so it improves the non-specific immunity.
- Reduces the lung damage due to its anti-inflammatory characteristics.
- Possesses higher stability, permeability, palatability, absorption, and bioavailability than other macrolides.
- It has short withdrawal period:
– 2 days for meat and offal.
– Zero day for eggs.
